You can always swap to a different stem however with threadless stems they don't go up and down like old school quill stems. However if you are experiencing discomfort, find a good fitter near you and get a fit. That way you have more definitive answers as to where everything should be for your body. Throwing different stems on may not actually solve all of your issues because fit is more than just a stem. A bike fit is not for those who race or people on road bikes it is for any cyclist anywhere. Unless you are riding once in a blue moon literally because that is the only time you can ride a fit can help you quite a bunch and make you as optimized on your bike as possible for maximum comfort and efficiency.
