Castelli Gabba - one or two sizes up?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Castelli Gabba - one or two sizes up?

I am 182 cm and 76 kg (waist 100 cm, chest 96 cm) and have previously gone up a size when buying Castelli. Have bibshorts in XL which are rather tight, think XL would have fit better. Perfetto jacket in XL. It is a reasonably good size, but becomes tight with too much underneath. I want a Gabba, but the color I want is hard to get hold of in XL. Is XXL something to consider? Don't like racefit, so don't do anything if its not too tight.

What's a race fit for cycling clothes? You should get sizes of stuff that fit you comfortably. Cycling clothes for road biking are supposed to be form fitting, not form squeezing. If you prefer looser fitting stuff as do those that ride off road, then that's okay too.

Sizes among the different brands of clothes differ widely. So read their fit guidelines and know your measurements.

IMO castelli is the wrong brand if you don't like anything tight. Bib are supposed to be tight as well, thats the whole point of them.

The Gabba is almost a Perfetto: it is a short sleeve Perfetto with no side zippers. So, I would buy whatever size you would buy now in a Perfetto.

I have lots of Castelli gear and always wear one size bigger than my normal without any problems.

I have 4 Castelli jerseys: two Attacco Limited Editions (in different colors), an Entrata V, and (most recently) a Tutto Nano RoS (for this past cold and wet winter). The sizing is consistent across all 4 jerseys, so I second scottfsmith's recommendation to buy your existing Castelli size.

This sounds spot on. Sizing about the same. The only consideration is that with a Jacket for really cold weather I consider that I might wear more clothing underneath such as a jersey and/or a LS base. Probably why I just opted for a Perfetto with zip-off sleeves. If the Gabba is for warmer weather with less underneath, take this into consideration.

Ditto. I'd buy two sizes & return whatever doesn't work were I you. (This is assuming free/cheap shipping & easy return policy)

Castelli has 3 different fits in jerseys, comfortable, performance and aero, I am not skinny so I use the 'comfortable', I ordered one in performance in the same size by accident,,,couldn't breath,,,so look at which fit works for your build

I have two different Castelli winter jerseys. I bought one size larger (XL) and it was the right choice for both jerseys. They are good quality and quite warm IMHO.

185cm - 70kg - 100cm chest - I wear medium in almost everything, but buy large in Castelli (bibs, jersey and vest so far). XL may be a little loose for you depending on how you like it.

Clothes shouldn't be floating on you and pinching your skin due to the wind, they should be snug. A race fit is technically just a little smaller than snug.

For me, Castelli going 1 size up from Assos is a bit tight but 2 sizes is a bit loose.

I took a chance, went for Gabba XXL. Two sizes up from usual Large in British or Dutch brands , but it seem to be a good choice. Comfortable with one or two layers but not flappy. Feeling ready for both Rain or Sun

I am 5'9", 185 lbs and have a 43" chest. I buy Castelli jerseys in 2XL and they fit perfectly.
