New Addition. Fisher MTB

I pick up this vintage Fisher MTB tomorrow.

I've been told the bikes marked Fisher are from the early years before being changed to Gary Fisher.
With my research, I seem to think a Montare, mid to late 80's. I can't make out the head badge but I'll know tomorrow.
Shimano thumb shifters (XT?), chainstay U-Brake (XT?), Blackburn Mtn Rack, period pedals/mtn toe cages, double bottle mounts,
Shimano crankset, not sure till tomorrow but, it looks like XT RD?
The U-brake would seem to make it an earlier year. I think Bullmoose bars would look good on this.

What would be the average value for this vintage MTB? No plans to sell it though. Just curious because I think I'm getting a great deal.

Is that steel? Nice looking bike. I was looking around Facebook marketplace and Craigslist for a vintage mountain bike. Every Gary Fisher bike I saw was aluminum. I just don't care for aluminum bikes

Cool ! I had a vintage aluminum mountain bike a few years back I wanted to like so much just didn't like the ride I can't remember the brand right now. Only aluminum bike I have is a Bikesdirect 29 plus low pressure tires cushion the harshness of the aluminum frame . I picked up a Specialized hardrock today. Didn't do quite as well as you thought

This is my usual target. Does look like front wheel and front brake caliper are replacements. Still a nice find! You are covered price wise on just the pedals.

My basic rules on old MTBs: thumb shifters, higher end components, rigid frame. I did break my rules on a recent full suspension bike, but it was full Deore XT and cheap. So thats just fine too!

Yeah. I figure at the price I am ok in just parts. The XT thumbies/parts and Blackburn Mtn Rack, I even like the Street Runner tires for it's intended use.
I'm not really worried about period correct on this bike. I have a WTB Pure saddle or even an Orbea carbon fiber saddle I could swap on.

So after getting the front derailleur adjusted, removing the toe clips, changing the saddle, and adjusting hand control positions I got a quick ride in.
The handlebar feels wide and the rear tire decided to call it quits.
For now, It needs tires, toe clip straps, a couple of bar end plugs, and the rear rim trued.
A parts inventory:
BB Serial Number T6G95832
Deerhead FD
XT RD
Bullseye front hub
LX rear hub
Exage U brake rear
Shimano V brake front
XT headset
XT thumb shifters
Pazzaz Bar Ends
XT? Shark Fin Chainstay protector
Orbea Carbon Fiber saddle.

tire coming apart
