Your Ride Reports - April 2021

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Your Ride Reports - April 2021

If you are new to posting on this thread, or if you are new to cycling, we welcome you! If you are returning from a previous thread, we welcome you, too.

This thread is for anyone who rides a bicycle ... or unicycle, tricycle, tandem, etc.

Are you an experienced road cyclist? Do you bike to work? Do you pull your children to the park? Do you ride weekends? Do you spin at home or in the gym? Is Zwift your thing? Do you race crits, ironman, or centuries? Touring? Audax/Randonneuring?
Or are you just starting out and remembering how much fun you had biking when you were a kid?

There are no set challenges - this is a mixed-ability / mixed-experience / everyone welcome group.

Just pick the target that you would like to achieve this month and post updates throughout the month as you work toward your target. We love seeing photos of your rides and hearing all about them.

Given the current situation many of us will be cycling solo or indoors. Don't feel alone! Share your accomplishments with us.

Saturday I rode for 43 miles around Picnic and Davis Is. Easter my legs were hurting so I did a slightly shorter version of 40 miles. Both days were on the cool and windy side. Tuesday went to Picnic Is. after work for 32 miles. At least it was warmer and less windy.

Saturday had other plans, so no riding. Sunday was a washout, but did about an hour on the trainer. Monday I rode 42 miles around the Ocala Nat. Forest.

Rode an easy 100km today (Sunday) with a local group. Sort of a recovery/base ride for me, after a somewhat gruelling 300k audax last weekend. We went through the city centre in the morning, up an easy climb (approx 20km, 600m), then back home through the city centre again. The way back wasn't as pleasant as in the morning, with much heavier traffic.

375k so far, longest ride being 52k. Still catching up the loss or cardio/endurance/strength caused by the winter. I didn't do much physical activity.

Spring has been very mild and sunny so far and I am grateful to mother nature

Thursday Davis Is. 27 mile evening ride. Saturday I was in the Ocala Nat Forest. Nice temps, but double digit wind speeds. Going out was painful. Coming back was great. 40 miles total. Sunday was rainy in the morning so I did an hour on the trainer.

Another Davis Is. evening ride for 27 miles. Probably my last ride of the month. I will be in the mountains next week. No bike riding, but hopefully some hikes.

Spoke too soon. Did another Davis Is. evening ride yesterday for 27 miles. That's it for this month I'm sure.

First outdoor ride in years

Rode 20 miles on Tuesday. Only averaged just under 16 mph. Way slower than I used to be able to do. But I gotta start somewhere. Goal is to be able to average around 20mph for the 20 mile ride even with the hills.
