Dating a Faggin -- Update and photos

Here is a late 1980s Faggin with data and photos. I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts. It was hardly ridden and looks to me as if nearly everything, including tires and tape, is original. I did put in a new generic seatpost binder bolt. The front derailleur is correct to the period and may have been original, but I really don’t know. Everything else seems to be the Campy Victory group, but for some parts I am unsure of model. --Dan in Toronto

Crank is actually "Triomphe", slightly lesser rank, but I believe lighter than the chunky "Victory". Don

...I don't know much about this one, either. Other than to say this was how they came sometimes. I had never seen a blue one before. The paint on mine is best described as "fragile". But yeah, I don't think this one got much ridden either. Which is not to say it's not a fine riding bicycle. The subtle and not so subtle differences between yours and mine (like the seat stay junction) are interesting, and might relate to when made.)

Very cool! Seat stay lugs are different indeed. Mine has a brazed FD holder. Thanks for your pictures.

I am starting to think Faggin is one of the quirkier builders around this time period.

From what I understand, there are some production level un-named models and some customs floating around.

There are one-offs and "practice models" for master/apprentices and I think I have one of those odd ball ones. Especially since I think they were trying to move some stock "Matrix" engraved BBs with a Cromor sticker.

I have also heard that other than the production models, they sometimes had fun with the paint jobs experimenting.

The thread title was a slow one over the middle of the plate. I tried to resist.

Thanks, Don. I wasn't aware of how close Victory was to Triomphe. I think much of the bike (brake levers, for sure) is Triomphe. I will do more research and revise. Thanks for pointing this out. Dan.
