Anyone here with white hubs? Want to buy some Fulcrum Racing 3's but worried
I'm a keep my bike showroom condition kinda person. Bike gets a 15min baby wipes wipe down after most rides. Then a spritz of synthetic wax on a microfiber, then buff.. On all surfaces... Keeps everything nice & slick on touch, and always looking clean and shiny.
The rear of my Fulcrum 5's are shot (major pothole cracked the rim) ! So using this as an opportunity to upgrade to the Fulcrum 3's.
The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger, is the fact that the hubs are white... And its not going to be easy to get to them for a proper clean, without spending some serious time... My Fulcrum 5's have black hubs, and i can get a baby wipe in there, and clean up the dirt and dust, but i'm sure the black paint is keeping some from being visible.
Anyone here whos' had white hubs and realized that it was a BAD idea ?

I'm not "anal" about my hubs, but I have the 3's and they aren't hard to clean at all. I usually just spray wash them down and that's fine.

I sometimes run white hubbed and rimmed Mavic Ksyrium Equipe Ss and find maintaining them cleanly to be no big deal. I don't have a good shot of the hubs, but think they'd look sharp on the blue Gios!

I have the Fulcrum Racing 3s on my Allez. The white hubs dont get that bad. Actually look cleaner then black hubs when dust gets on them. Think of black vs white car. Plus the 16/21 spoke ratio gives you plenty of space to get it there and clean. You will have to worry about keeping the white decals clean more then the hubs. Check out biketiresdirect i got my wheels for $515 shipped.

The price difference between the Fulcrum 5 and 3 is quite significant. I had the 5's, and when it was time to upgrade, I went the carbon route. There are several good carbon wheel options in the Fulcrum 3 price range.

EDIT: Just realised this was a pretty old thread that's been bumped! But anyway, my "white hubbed" Racing 3's were 2015 models.
I had a pair of Fulcrum Racing 3's with the white hubs (probably purchased in 2015 or thereabouts). The rear hub got grubby the quickest, with some specs of grease or whatnot flicked onto it. A real pain to clean. I didn't really bother as I'm not that precious about how clean my hubs look.
That's a photo from brand new when I built the bike up. They didn't stay that white for long!

Old thread or not, I'll pitch in. My White Industries rear wheel hub just gave up the ghost after 40,000km. Colour me not impressed.
