An Unusual Centurion for T-Mar

Tom...... Unusual LeMans in that it was never stamped w/ a serial #..... Absolutely nothing on the BB housing or seat tube or dropouts or head tube...... WTH?

BTW, I have to say that this new C&V format sucks, waaaaaay too many advertisements and they like to get in the way when I'm creating a post. I'll purchase a God d**ned star if we can go back to the old site....

Very nice Centurion. I have never seen that logo, which is definitely Centurion and the parent company's, used on the bike itself.Nice copper color-great bike. Every now and then there was a Japanese made bike that came through my store that did not have a serial number anywhere on the bike -bb, head tube, rear dropouts, seat tube -nothing, or completely painted over when new.

Interesting frame sticker. What do the green letters spell?

Looks like "Tension" which I'm guessing is gaspipe. Somebody else had a bike here with a 531 rip off sticker but it wasn't the same.

I think this is the one. My favorite, came off a 1976 Superia. "Bonderized" tubing. It made me look twice when I bought this bike!

That's the one. I had a friend pick up a bike with the same sticker. I can't remember the make but it was French IIRC. (EDIT: it was Superia... just like this one)

Is it just my eyes playing tricks or are there stampings on the left side of the seat lug?

Based on what I've seen, the early Lemans used Raleighesque liveries though 1975. The cross head badge puts the modern limit at 1978. So my best guess is circa 1976-1978. The world's championship stripes have appeared on other model of this era, so it should be in the ballpark. I'd be interested in knowing if this agrees wit thte component date codes.

The advertisements go away when you become a member, but I don't know how you do that anymore.

Hey I have exactly the same Lemans in black and 23" size. On mine, there's a serial # on the left side of the seat tube, down near the BB. The date codes on the various components point to 1977. So probably a 1978 bike?
