By the way, how do you like those Drumlins? What size did you buy, how wide and tall do they actually measure on your rims, and do you have any closer-in pictures of them installed?

They are 40mm and they are pretty close to 40mm tall installed. The only beef I have with them is that I couldn’t find any blackwall varieties when I bought them. I peeled off the reflective strip on these but there is still a bit of the silver left behind. I haven’t put a lot of miles on them but I find that they are biased more toward hard surfaces with some chunky treads on the side for when you find yourself in sand or dirt. They ride smoothly on the roads and rail trails I’ve ridden them on.

It's been about a month since I purchased my 2021 Specialized Sirrus 6 and the gears needed some adjusting. I brought it to my LBS for a checkup and they adjusted what was needed.

I got the Varia 515. I wasn’t sure about all the positive reviews but 30% off and easy return convinced me to give it a try. I really like it and found it super useful on the road. On busy street it’s nit very useful because there’s lots of cars but on less used roads it’s really nice to see vehicles coming up behind you, how many of them and how fast they are traveling. I can see why people say they won’t ride without it.

Also did a 20 mile ride with a new Redshift ShockStop stem. I have to say these were worthwhile upgrades to my FX 2.

Mounted Schwalbe G-One Terrabite TLE 28x2.00 tires. Had them lying around since February when I got them for a discount price, since I wanted to try wider tires for off-road riding than my regular Conti Speed Rides.

With a local MTB XC race coming up this weekend, this seemed a good opportunity to try these tires out. Strangely, there is virtually no info on the web about this particular model, but from what I can see, they are identical to G-One Ultrabites. Came in a packaging that looked original and from a reputable online store, so I don't worry about their origins.

Mounting them was harder than I thought though. It was my first time that I had to use tire levers already to get the first bead over the edge of the rim, and by that point they already sat so tight that I wasn't able to slide them forward/backward on the rim to align the label with the valve hole as is customary. Had also to use the soapwater trick to get them to seat properly.

Rode the old girl

For the first time in years. It was very hot out so a short ride. I’m old now, too. Ha ha.

I’m starting to look for a new hybrid, eventually. I like steel, it’s real.

Not allowed to post pics yet. But I put a new front tube on the 1970s Nishiki.

We put a new rear tube on my son's 2021 Schwinn Copeland. He also got a new Italian foam seat.

We took them for a ride around our side of Denver and got Chinese. It went great, my old bike still outran his new one.

More like to. I was just about done putting my hybridized vintage roadie back together after more than two years of the frame hanging on the wall and the parts collecting dust in a box somewhere, when I somehow managed to break the pivot nut of the front caliper. Mars, who was so impressed with the progress, was completely bummed:

Too hot to ride lately so my old girl is in the garage. I’ll probably dust her off tomorrow. When I go in the garage I squeeze her tires to make certain no goathead has flattened them.

-27f drop in temperature

It’s not even 70f, overcast and lovely outside so I got an overpowering urge to go for a ride. My daughter (she has a new steel cruiser Electra) and I went out for a nice leisurely ride on the paths around our neighborhood.

Maybe only two miles’ riding but she’s getting used to her bicycle and she got to play on a playground for a bit that we rode our bikes to.

My old girl hybrid is looking fine for her age. Few scratches here and there; all earned.

I don’t have enough posts to post photos yet, either.

Rode the ole girl (her name is Pack Mule) to PT. I blasted down a hill (Pack Mule is steel and when she gets going she flies) with the wind in my hair and Pearl Jam in my ears.

The ride back is less fun but I’m glad to be back in the saddle. Also, it’s extremely hot outside, already.

I know our garage door is ugly!

I've just been browsing facebook marketplace. Question: Will 27.5 x 1.5 tyres fit on a Giant Escape with 700c wheels?

I am, of course, googling that question at the moment, but can't seem to find a definitive answer, I hope someone here can help. And if the answer is in the affirmative, I will of course post a picture of my new tyres

Google "ETRTO sizing" and save your cash. In the ETRTO sizing system - the more accurate one that everyone ought to be using 😁 - a 700c tire fits a 622mm wheel (that's the actual diameter of the rim, sans the "beads" - the two sides that hold the tire in place.) The 27.5 tires will only fit a 584mm wheel.

Thanks for that, I could probably go a little longer on the tyres I've got, but it is time to start thinking of changing them...

Yeap. I'm now (well my bike) registered with the city Police Dept. As a boy I grew up in the country. I was always sorta envious of the town kids at school that had licenses on their bikes. I finally made it!!

The late, great Sheldon Brown has a great resource on tire sizing systems.

https://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html

I agree with him and others -- the ISO/ETRTO nomenclature is easier to convey and understand, and there's no confusion. Unfortunately, the old marketing terms (like "700c") are so entrenched in the industry, we may never get away from them.
