It's not like there's anything about the design that would prevent that. Perhaps a future model? Some of the Asian-manufactured "inspired by" bikes are factory-fitted with discs.

Brompton seems to be conservative in their design. But if Birdy managed to add disc brakes to their bikes since 2015, I can’t see why it can’t be done to Brompton. Although the original wired single side Avid disc brake on the Birdy is not that good, a simple upgrade to 2 pot hydraulic system significantly enhanced the braking power.

Birdy 2 = before 2015 had also disc brakes but not on all models.

Since the Birdy 3, all Riese & Müller Birdy have Shimano hydraulic disc brakes.

Pacific Cycles mount different types of disc brakes: mechanical double piston TRP Spyre or hybrid.

That’s why. Mine is from Hong Kong and came with Avid BB5R.

Some months ago Dahon, always looking for a way to differentiate their bikes from those of their many, many, many copiers, announced something they refer to as a 'safety disc brake':

Safety Disk Brake

One of the most eye-catching, patented accessories produced by DAHON this year; it won the Gold Award at the Innovation Awards during the China Cycle Show in May. Its key advantage is its offset internal structure that effectively protects the disc, avoiding knocks and collisions; even after years of use, the disc will resist warping, offering improved performance compared to ordinary disc brakes. The Safety Disk Brake is more versatile, with better handling than that of ordinary disc brakes, thanks to its inset of 15mm. For the folding bikes market, it fundamentally solves disk brake installation problems such as bulky folding volumes and increased body weight, optimizing its appearance and performance. Internationally available from 2022, these new safety disc brakes will be fully applied to all DAHON models equipped with disc brakes.
