Giant Cadex seatpost pin/binder size question

What size does Giant Cadex 980C etc (road bike) use, I can't undo mine I know it's 30mm length but I don't know if it's M6 or M8, can't undo it and I had one snap before so I'd rather have spare before applying more force on it.

Define "can't undo" first.

Mine was M5, so I'm not sure what you have going on there.
If it's an issue with a mangled socket, try SAE sizes for a better fit?
Sometimes, the SAE can come in between an M5 and M6, generally on a reamed M5.

M5 are You sure? I'm not talking about hex socket size but the bolt diameter. It's seized I feel it might snap had that before on other bike.

You didn't clarify either in your post.

Is the bolt seized with the sleeve, or is the assembly seized in the binder?
I've seen the bolt/sleeve seized, but turning in the binder.
I've seen the bolt seized in the binder by itself, with the sleeve able to be taken off on the L side.
Without knowing, can't really address.

Pics would help; you may have to post 10 times to get that feature.

Good luck, and let us know.

Man's been a member for far longer than you, though less loquacious.

Then a pic would help.
How's that, since you've offered no help?

At least I'm trying to understand the issue and assist.
More than I can say for you, or was that too loquacious?

I can shorten that to two words.....

It's as standard a binder as you can possibly imagine.

M5 bolt, thread is 5.85mm.

I don't think this is a standard bolt, I can only find M6 and they come in different lengths hard to tell what length mine is by measuring thru frame I think it's measured before the bolt heads.

I can pull mine out and measure it, if you'd like.

That was what's in mine, looks exactly like what it says on it

Male part is 21.5mm, female 13.5, shoulder on both is 2.6mm.
26mm exactly fully threaded.

The narrowest is 26mm fully inserted. How wide will it go?

I don't think it matters.

As long as the female part is <8mm wide and the male part doesn't bottom out before properly tensioned any binder will do.
I just tried Sugino, Campagnolo and Procraft and all fit the same and all appear to work for my Cadex.

Wait til you try and buy a Campagnolo binder

Procraft binders are about 2 euro over here.
