Trainer skewer vs Bike's stock skewer?

The c-clip that holds the Wahoo quick release cam on their skewer popped off. It's proving very difficult to reassemble. I'm going to contact Wahoo for a warranty replacement.

Will I be OK to use my bike's stock skewer in place of the Wahoo skewer? I see no discernable differences except my bike's skewer cam and retaining nut are a little fancier looking (but not lightweight)?

Thanks,
Paul

Trainer skewers just offer surfaces that interface with the trainer a little better. If your skewer holds the bike well, there is no reason you can't use it.

I mounted one of our bikes to a trainer using the stock skewer. It works okay. A replacement would be cheap, so I'm not worrying about it.

I'd say it depends - the steel skewers that come with trainers, or the old ones that looked like them, are a little stronger, and a little heavier. It'll probably be fine. The trainer skewers are cheap though, so....

It might work, although in my experience stock skewers just have a plastic cap on the non-cam side can get pretty chewed up.

I mixed and matched, but the stock skewer seems like it would be fine by itself--stock skewer on the cam side paired with the Wahoo nut on the other side. Wahoo will be sending out a replacement skewer, but it's disappointing that they cheaped out so much on a seemingly very important part.

Thanks for the offer, but Wahoo is sending out a replacement. I live outside the US so it makes shipping more of a hassle. I appreciate the offer, though.

I've been using the combo I described above and can't see why it wouldn't be OK indefinitely.

Thanks
Paul
