Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Has anyone upgraded an SE Lager?

I just picked one up for the princely sum of $50.00 US. I couldn't pass it up! It's heavy as an old GF, and kinda cheaply too, like her.... But I see the potential in it. I also kinda dog what SE bikes are putting down with their plus size BMX bikes... Kinda like the old GF again!

Anayway, if you have, I'd like to see what all you've done to yours. I'm thinking about putting some lipstick in this one... There's that old GF reference again....

Not an SE Lager, but a cheaper SE Draft.

2012 SE Draft upgraded with Wabi wheels and cheap alloy cranks, stem and seatpost

You could do it but I wouldn't put a ton of money into, I would suggest replacing just parts that are worn out and any touch points. If you have parts in your bin then go wild.

Agree, that's what I'd do too. The bike is way too young to write off entirely. And big girls need lovin' too.

The bike was hardly ridden at all. It's a 2013 with very, very little miles. I'm just going to use it as an around time bike, nothing serious.

$50 bucks?! A pair of those ThickSlicks would cost me more up here. Nice find.
Personally, I wouldn't do anything other than adjusting the bike to make it fit, keep and eye on the tire pressure and ride it......oh, and remove the white "cards" in the spokes.
