I usually bike to the gym which would be about three times a week. And when I'm not going to the gym, I either take long bike rides or stay at home doing the gardening.

I exercise 7 days a week most of the time ... but not particularly intensely.

I rest on rest days. I try to ride 6 days per week but no less than 5.

I did a long hard ride yesterday. My morning heart rate variability screamed rest. My TSB at -58.4 said rest. I would prefer not to have those numbers but the ride was a required qualification.

I guess my reasoning about rest is you get stronger only during recovery. If you have not recovered and you add more training stimulus, there is a chance you're just digging yourself into a hole.

To me rest day means rest. Take easy.

Rest day is walk the dog about 3 miles and work in the gardens. Rest day means no cycling or working out. It means rest.

Rest day to me is rest, no exercise and just sit around all day like a couch potato man counting the days he have wasted or do some fixing around the house.
