Need help with ID piece on wheel
Hi
This bike had a few small pieces on the chain stay.
looked like magnets within plastic.
Previous owner said it was a special computer .
date is 2003 when he bought the bike.
there is a round piece attached with zip ties where the axle is
There were wires from the chain stay to the handlebar computer.
I have never seen anything like it
Hope someone can tell me
Appreciate any and all help

Search "Vintage Cyling Computer" on eBay -- there's tons of this stuff. I'm guessing it was an old Avocet or Cateye unit -- something like these:

At least one of these old units had magnets in the ring and they served as a generator that powered the computer. Don't remember the brand or model but they worked well.
