So, my tubed GP 5000s are getting down the the wear dimples. I like them, but they were such a pain to get onto my wheels that I’m considering alternatives. I am looking for something for everyday use, fairly sporty, with an aramid protection layer, like the 5000s.

Yes, I have a bead jack, but I'm worried about putting a point load on my fiendishly expensive plastic rims with it. I was able to thumb these tires on, but it took forever and hurt my thumbs. It would be very unpleasant to have to do on the road.

You did all of the little things, like ensuring that the beads were fully in the rim bed depression and you ended at the valve, rather than starting there? Schwalbe makes a tube-type Pro One Addix and the Michelin offerings look pretty good, otherwise. Of course, I have no experience with them...

Pretty much. I think my SOP is to start just before the valve, but it's all procedural memory. You're supposed to start after?
