Titanium Brompton clones update

My dad's bike, now with front disc brake.

My wife's bike. I have put more exotic parts to shave weight further.

I have built two full titanium Brompton clones 2 years ago, one for my wife and one for my father.

My father have ridden the bike regularly without issues, until the 3D printed tensioner finally gave in.

I have rebuilt my father's bike with front disc brake, metal tensioner, titanium seatpost and other heavy but sturdy components to make it as hassle free as possible.

On the other hand my wife have been too busy to ride the bike, and she actually preferred Moulton over her new one.

So I have put some exotic lightweight components to make the bike even lighter.

Raxel,
Thanks for the post. Truly fantastic bikes, as usual.
. Can you share any specific details to how you achieved these spectacular (!) weights?

Zombie post, but those bikes in the OP always make me drool. I bet they ride like a greased rocket!

FWIW, those frames and components are all over EBay and Aliexpress.

Yes, many Brompton clone Ti frames but not all the same, difficult o know which ones are OK and which ones are crap!

I wonder how much these bikes have cost in total, frame+parts, and if they didn't cost more than the new titanium T-line?

Personally, I now would certainly choose the T-line instead of any Ti clone.

I'm really late in the game, but was wondering where you got the titanium stem? I see them all over ebay but not sure which ones are reliable/good. What brand did you end up getting? Man your builds are amazing, trying to make my brompton c line lighter and these bikes are making me wish i started from scratch instead. (long time lurker but my first post)

Very nice clone you got there. I built a similar one a years ago with all titanium frame with 12 speed force AXS derailleur. Weight around 6.64kg. But it is quite flimsy to ride.

Welcome! Do you still have the bike? Or pictures or anymore details? I’m interested in building a titanium clone. Thanks!

Looks nice!

What chain tensionning did you use to keep the chain tensionned when folded?

I got myself a DIY carbon fiber chain tensioner and short cage for the derailleur.

Excellent.

How did you attach the Birdy type chainring tensionning arm on the bottom bracket box of the frame?

Does it require to place the chain on one of the biggest cogs?

That’s also a 2.5mm thickness DIY carbon fiber plate tighten through the bottom bracket.

As for the fold can be done on any COGS just that the smaller cogs will have less tension.

What type of bottom bracket did you use, classic BSA 68mm internal, external cups...?

Your crankset seems to have an integrated hollow axle?

Those 2.5mm added on the right side are excellent to compensate for the asymmetry of the frame bottom bracket box but increase the crankset axle length by 2.5mm, how did you manage that?.

I am using Durace BSA 68mm BB with external cup.
I am compensating the 2.5mm by making the chairing to inner side of the crank instead of normal outter side.

OK, but the right cup hold the tensionner which is 2.5mm thick > the BB become 68+2.5mm = 70.5 what could cause a problem for the integrated axle of the crankset which is designd for a 68mm BB?
