You guys that ride in normal shoes, do they dry out by the end of the day? Or do you just tough it out in wet shoes all day? Haha, I haven't bought shoe covers yet or whatever.

If it's really pouring, put plastic bags over your socks before you put your shoes on.

It may of been the mounting bracket... looks pretty flimsy

I feel the rain brings the best out in me.
I strongly dislike fenders and it's easy enough to wash the riding gear.

Base layer.
Long pant legged bibs(yes, I'm a bibs person.)
Jersey to keep the essentials in(wallet, keys, phone, camera, tube, 3wrencho.)
Endura Convert II Waterproof Jacket.

Be afraid... be very afraid.

If it is warm rain I just get wet but for the cold, never ending, bone chilling, soul sucking rain you get in Oregon during the winter you need to gear up.

Waterproof shell jacket and pants, mebbe a little wool for a mid layer, waterproof gloves, and shoes that are either waterproof or covers to make them so... my spd shoes are sealed under the sole to prevent water from seeping in and the shoe covers keep water out.

And if you are gonna run fenders go all the way... they protect you from stuff that may not be water and do a lot to protect your bike and drive train from sucking up water and grit.

PS... make sure your stuff is also waterproof by using a waterproof bag or zip lock baggies as you do not want your stash to get wet..

It looks like I'm just going to have to fork over for booties if I want to really ride in the rain. Probably have to throw the clipless pedals on the fixed too.

Fingers and toes are the easiest extremities to get cold.

one of the joints of the section... i had it taped for a while... also jiggly jiggly jiggly
but it does fit on tight fitting track/road/race bikes

I over heard at the lbs, A good way to quickly make some fenders is to get some plastic, Like a milk jug, And some zipties, Half side with out handle for downtube, Handle goes where side goes under brake bridge and if you ahve brakes, But the handle. But it never rains here in LA, And when it does i have a trash bike for the rain that has a fender type thing

This thread is definitly relevant to my interests.

The rainy season has started again here in Boise. My nice "water resistant" jacket was done resisting water after 10 minutes. That Marmot Precip jacket looks really nice.

I was wondering if anyone has any other suggestions for a lightweight packable waterproof jacket but with reflective accents or high-viz colors. Thanks...

I got a marmot precip jacket last week, it is pretty awesome for riding in the rain. I may pickup some precip pants also for the really bad days, the material is not really hot and plasticy feeling.

Glove suggestions? Don't need to be water proof, but wool gloves get a little to wet for me.

I have a set of military issue cold weather boots, this may be a dumb question, would those work for keeping the feet dry? Would they be practical?

I picked up a pair by Seirus recently. Haven't had a chance to try them in rain yet, but they claim 100% waterproof (we'll see).
