Bananas, bagels, peanut butter for me. Oatmeal if someone else makes it!

Breakfast - granola cereal or toast

Granola bars or oatmeal cookies, bananas, fruit bars, potato chips

Pizza

Last Sunday we did a 3 hour ride. One piece of toast with jam. Two fruit bars at the halfway point. Oriental noodles when I was finished. Then later ... Mexican food for dinner.

This. I’ve been trying to move away from the prepackaged energy foods and moving towards real food. Home-baked cookies are good. Or fried pies, made by a nice Amish woman a few miles from here. I freeze them in their own little Ziploc bags, then just toss one in my jersey pocket before heading out for a long ride.

I just finished a 200 mile ride yesterday on the trainer in prep for a planned 213 mile ride real life ride this summer. I found eating often and in small amounts work best. I started out with toast with peanut butter and jelly and coffee at 3:30 am, on the bike by 4 am. I rode until 5:45 which is about the millage to my first planned stop, mile 30 Breakfast sandwich, more coffee. I rode till 11 am which put me at mile 70. An apple and banana and some peanuts and a good shot honey. I rode another 60 miles, more honey, some rice balls with peanut butter, Gater aid. My body was craving sugar, so more honey and more rice balls to finish last two segments, I stopped for a brief time between 165 and the end, sweet tea and more rice balls and more honey. I plan on carrying honey with me for the next long ride in a squeeze bottle. Funny what you crave when you push your body to the max.

A total ride time of 11 hours, total time 14 hours

I usually just guzzle a Coke and attack a bag of Doritos while sitting on a curb in front of a gas station.
Doesn't everyone do this?

In the middle of a 6+ hour ride is about the only time that I drink Coke (or any soft drinks) - something about that cocktail of sugar, caffeine and other unmentionables just hits the spot. No Doritos, though - if I need/want something salty, it's a Pearson's Nut Roll. Ding Dongs or similar are an occasional guilty indulgence.

Only if it's over 90°F. Doritos or Fritos for the salt. If it's cooler than that, a Snickers (from the gas station or convenience store so it's not melted) hits the spot.

After? Whatever doesn't eat me first.

I don't worry about it too much. I just try not to eat any greasy food right before a ride and not stuff my stomach to my gills with much of anything. Except maybe water..... with or without added carbs.

If I had to cross the finish line at a certain time, I might care more.

I'm overweight so I go with unsweetened tea. And Doritos. (which is one of many reasons I'm overweight)

But there really is nothing like cooling off with some deep breaths of gas fumes.

I take it that you like Vega products?

If I can't eat real food shortly after a harder ride, I've been downing an Orgain chocolate/peanut butter shake. I recently started mixing them with oat milk instead of water, and whoa, momma!

I generally have a smoothie with fruit, pumpkin seeds, some of type of green leaf, some vegan protein powder, maybe a homemade energy bar before, I don't generally eat food during my rides as it causes issues with my stomach, but I do use Hammer Perpetum in my bottles. I like to have a package of tuna mixed with red or black beans.

A regular breakfast if a morning ride. I pretty much eat nothing on a 3 to 4 hour ride. I just drink water. And after a ride I drink water and eat a normal meal.
