Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

As someone who bikes in wine country, I'm going to say that says more about wine people than cyclists.

Chain catchers seem to be sold to rich people who don't know how to keep their shifting adjusted

Horrible! I don't care if someone's playing Schumann or Steely Dan, Blind Melon "Whomever" or the Lennon Sisters, if it's being played at-volume, where *I* can hear it (stopped, or while riding) it's too darn loud, and something's gonna be said about it.
I turn around and tell you to shove it brother!!

Seriously........titanium tire levers. Two are lighter than one plastic one, they are made from hollow tubing.

But, they are so hard they put dents in the aluminum rims on my Ksyriums. Don't use them!

That leads me to think that steel levers would do the same thing.

I've never had a problem with them, or needed to use 2 levers to remove a road tire.

I suspect user error, or Ksyriums have a soft bead hook.

I don't need tire levers to change tires, but I wanted to try one. I agree the Ksyriums must be soft. That's a good thing for other wheel owners. Maybe this will help other Ksyrium owners before they try it.

you don't have to be rich to buy a chain catcher.

Alloy nipples.

I use them on my personal wheel builds, but the weight savings is not worth the hassle or cost for most people.

I actually agree with him on that. It has nothing to do with being better than anyone else.

That reminds me of something for this list:

Tire levers.

Oh, I agree that they are a hassle and there is very little weight saving, but for the superior cyclist, well. Nothing else will do. Certainly not those common brass nipples. They are so common.

Chain catchers are cheap and for alot of guys who race its good insurance. Adjustment doesn't mean crap if you try and shift on rough roads.
