Raleigh Sports - asking for info on year
Fellow bought a ladies Sport frame from me and some parts for another he was rebuilding. He also told me how he had been given a "Raleigh racing bike" but didn't know much about it. I asked for photos and clearly it's a man's frame Sport so no issues with model identification.
However, looking for a rough year? I saw the licences and wonder how old..... Luckily, I grabbed a Super Course 2 days back so my addiction is currently sated......
Correction to post - Don't believe that hub is original to bike so don't want to go off that ( I gave owner a 72 hub and a 74 hub so now numbers will be really off!) I also asked for a photo of serial number, I suggested on underside of BB. Is that correct?

Should be a two digit year code on that SA hub. Looks postwar based on most of the components and the fact that the headset is 1", but perhaps a bit of an oddity without my catalogs handy...

Serial # won't tell you much. That color and decal style pegs it as early 1960s to me. Is the front dyno hub original? Those have a date code, too.

I would say 1964/65. I had a ‘65 all original sports with this font on down tube. My ‘63s have different font as do my later ones from ‘69/70

If the brakes are original, they were phased out around 62, give or take a year. It also appears to have the pulley mount braze-on on the top tube. I'm thinking 59 ish?
Those 'relieved' crankarms were also late 50's.

Here it is. You can see it from the NDS as well. All the Sports models of certain years had them. Sheldon had a crib sheet for it back in the day.

Based on the combination of transfers, fishmouth lugs, and braze-on pulley mount, I'd say 1954.

And since it's likely a Canadian bike, here's the catalogue from '54. Flamboyant Electric Blue plus 67 years of patina. I can't see any signs of a chainguard being mounted so that makes it likely the drop bars are original as are the fluted cranks. Very nice.

Nice to see the knowledge that pops up here. I guessed it was older as soon as a I saw it but randomly guessed mid-60's.
Serial number is 46715 CB. Just trying to see if any relevance to that. I've emailed owner to ask location of serial number as thought that varied from year to year (and asking about the date code on hub and dyno).

Being old enough to be likely all English it should have pretty simple 2 digit date codes on most of the components.

This is from a Raleigh brochure that claims to be from the 1960s, no exact year.

There are some people who have catalogued some Raleigh serial numbers from the 1960s.
From Nottinghamshire Archives, 1994

The 1961 serial numbers end in AF.
The 1965 serial numbers end in FD.
The 1957 catalogue has a Trent Sports with different decals.
The 1959 catalogue also has a Trent Sports.

I just got an email from owner.
He advises dyno marked 954. Assuming that means September 1954 it would be a '54. I can see replacing the rear wheel but expect it's the original dyno.

On Tuesday last, I grabbed a Panasonic PT-4500 in Erie PA, on Friday a Technium that was sitting for over a year in the garage of @Shrek83 and Monday a Raleigh Super Course in St. Catherines, Ontario from a student returning to Korea.
Tonight I stood in my garage with a stupid look on my face wondering where to jam them all.
If owner of this one offers it I'll post it here. I swear.!!

1954 would make sense for dating Raliegh added the chain guard, switched to the sweep back bars and switched the nicer alloy or chrome fenders to thin steel painted mid to late 50's on there mid level 3 speeds.
