Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

campy eurus wheel spoke replacement

not sure whether it is easy to get spokes for this wheel, and easy to respoke?
Some wheelsets, like the Shimano's R540 etc is difficult to find those spokes.
anyone knows?

Just for the record - the r540 are special spokes, but any decent LBS should be able to order them. I doubt anyone really stocks replacement spokes as a regular thing.

what year? pre-2006 used cx-rays. newer sets have proprietary spokes. Any decent LBS can order them for you.

It is a little more labour intensive because, with bladed alum spokes, you can't flex the spoke and weave it into place. You may have to first loosen or remove 1 or 2 other spokes just to install the new one.

Other than that, it trues like any other wheel.

As others have stated, any reputable bike dealer will be able to order the spokes for you. You can order them individual, or in a replacement kit as I did. The Kit includes 3 front/back spokes, 3 back drive side spokes, nipple nuts, and rim washers. Depending on where the spoke broke, you may need to also order the bass anchors that hold the spoke head at the hub. These are relatively cheap as such i ordered 6 of them as well. My spoke broke at the hub end free wheel side, thus the bass anchor was lost.

Respoking is pretty easy, you will need a 5mm deep drive socket to get to the nipple on the pre 06 wheels. I had to remove one spoke to replace the broken spoke as it was the lower placement one. truing is quick, easy and just like regular wheels.

I broke one on mine...LBS ordered a pack of them....a mixture of front and rears. You have to remove the tire and rim tape to get to the nipple....sort of a pain but still within reason IHMO...

With most spoke replacements, you have to remove the tire and rim strip to replace the nipple. It's the day to day touch up truing should it be required that could be a pain, however I have never had to true except after that spoke replacement.

Here is a picture of the brass anchor. My spoke broke right at the head in the hub.
