Kool Stop Salmon Continental pads on "modern" calipers?
Any thoughts on using Kool Stop Continental brake pads on a set of "modern" brake calipers?
The particular Calipers are Shimano Exage Motion. The original pads are non adjustable with a cast
In nut. The pads after a couple 1000 miles, have a little less rubber depth than the Continentals.

Continentals might work, but would look inappropriate.
Use the Dura or Dura2 with the holders.

Lord knows I tried...
So I realized that I had a set of extra Tektro pads and holders. Their a no go. The brake's slot is sized for a bolt, not a internally threaded shaft. I have the Continental pads in hand, so I'll give them a try. If they don't work, I'll throw another $20 down the rabbit hole for new Shimano pads..

Hmm. My Tektro holders (shoes) have an attached female piece that fits in the caliper arm slot that the bolt then threads into. Can you show us a pic of yours?

I'm using a set of Kool-Stop Continentals on a pair of RX100 calipers, which I believe are more "modern" than what you have.

I tried Continentals on the close-reach Shimano dual-pivots I am putting on the Bianchi, but more conventional KoolStop pads, with their shorter profile, fit much better and work very well. As for braking effectiveness, I'll put any KoolStop over anything else.

I just tried that with great results. They look a little silly, but it's a boring looking bike, so these are at least interesting. Only 20 miles, but so far so good.
