Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hence, "largely", though I'd note that we don't execute orphans anymore....

Our 32 year old moved back in with us about 8 months ago. In fact in the last 10 years, all three of our children have came back at least once, a father-in-law moved himself in for a bit, two ex daughter-in-laws and three grandchildren have stayed here for an extended time and three sister-in-laws tried to roost here. I had what I thought was going to be a humorous reply planned but after all that it is really kind of depressing.

Wow. What a thread. I skimmed through most of it, ignored the grammar pedantry and flaming, but think I got the gist.

OP, if clipless doesn’t work for you, don’t use them. Especially if you’re a triathlete, it might benefit you to avoid changing shoes at T2.

I don’t use clipless for commuting or errands, but I do use them for road, mountain, and cyclocross. I prefer being securely attached to the bike any time I need to stand, or sprint, or corner hard, or muscle over a sharp up, or bounce over rough or loose ground, or need to bunnyhop. If you don’t have any of those situations on your rides, then you may not benefit from clipless.

Did you ride the Flume Trail? A friend has a house up high on the Nevada side and sometimes she invites some of us up to ride. Here we are taking a break on the Flume. 2 of us on clipless and 2 on flats.

I gave my kids 1 move back, when they did that, their only place to sleep here after that, is the garage and their bedrooms became my wife's craft room and the other became my office\bike cave.

Yes, we rode south on the TRT, around Marlette Lake, and then down the Flume Trail. To keep this on topic, notice Lucas’ Shimano M540 pedals. Reliable, bombproof, an excellent value in my opinion.

I should have made an immediate correction.

Indeed, once past breeding age those folks no longer affect the gene pool directly. On the other hand, they continue to spout their spurious "wisdom" to succeeding generations. That is why we should thank them for self-removal.

I cannot find any data on whether Charles Darwin used clipless or flats.
