Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Available or unavailable they're laying out their new bikes for viewing. I thought that would be of interest to many members here.

What always gets me with Trek, is the color combo offering to the sub models.
what if someone wants a color that's only available for sl5 but they want a sl6?

Shouldn't be a thing, but it is.

Change components. I bought an SL5, and its morphed into a SL7 over time.

I will agree with you and I have to say it's rather odd that they announce a handful of new models and none of them are available. "This product is currently unavailable online. Check local availability and delivery timelines with your retailer". I think I may call my Trek LBS and ask them exactly that that timeline is.

Sounds like the auto industry right now. You no longer go to the dealer to pick up your car, you go to pick OUT your car and wait for it to arrive. Maybe.

The same this is happening with Canyon. I'm on their mailing list and it was just a day or two ago that they announced their new Ultimate model. Too bad you can't buy it. I mean... it's ridiculous advertising something that is not available and if you call them (Trek or Canyon) they can't even tell you when it might be available. It seems pretty stupid to me. And, I think there are a lot of people who are getting tired of this carrot and stick sales approach.

It's a great business model. They get people to fight over limited stock. A bike I was interested appeared and sold out in less than 4 hours.

I did purchase a Canyon Endurace about 2 months ago. And that was because I was able to visit their Carlsbad showroom and take one for a test ride. There is no way I'm walking into my local Trek dealer and putting a deposti/order down on a bike that might not be available for 6 months. That's just not happening.

That isnt a Trek thing, it is an industry thing. Canyon, Giant, Specialized, Cannondale, Jamis, AllCity, Salsa, etc etc etc.

I think they are doing that with most of their bikes.. I recently purchased a 2023 FX Sport 6 and it said the same. I went into a Trek Corporate store and they special ordered it. I had to put 10% down then wait.. I guess that's why it says not available to purchase online as it has to be done through a store..

$13,199 with 58cm max size and generic wheels and tires. For a Trek, no thanks.

Greg Lemond's 8 is only $12,500 and isn't just for shortish people.

A Pinarello F Disc with Firecrest wheels is only $15,000.

It's Red AXS, and their top of line carbon wheels. Generic? Please...

The listings are not showing all the sizes now, not sure why but maybe they have not made any yet. They will have up to 62 I think plus small sizes as well. You can see some SL bikes and the SLR frame-only showing sizes bigger than 58 now.

Im not interested myself but I rode Trek for twenty years so always like to see what they are up to.. looks like an improvement on their overly heavy previous model.

The latest models from Trek (the last two years) are underwhelming.

On the Domane, yes. That was one of the bigger changes to the model.
