Looking for an 80s shimano rear hub with 126 spacing that takes an HG cassette. It needs to have 36 holes.
Does anyone have one of these they’d be willing to part with?
thanks!

Are you looking for a freewheel or freehub? I have a 105 but it is only 32H and a screw on freewheel type. Also it is missing the drive side seal. Otherwise, the cups and all are in great shape. If you can use it, you are welcome to it for shipping, $7.50 I think.
If the OP does not want this hub, it is up for grabs.

Hyperglide started in 1989 IIRC, so you'll probably have the most luck searching for a hub from the late 80s or early 90s. Maybe 6401, 1055, or RX100 if you're looking for what was "road" at the time. If you're willing to respace a 130mm or 135mm 7-speed "MTB/hybrid" hub to 126mm by removing spacers and cutting down the axle (I've done this), that would help cast a wider net.

I might have something. I'll check the bin when I get home though I have an inkling that all I have are 32-hole hubs.
Edit: confirmed—the one I have is 32-hole. Sorry!

I think "Bikewagon" still has dual UG/HG freehub bodys on ebay for $13~ or so. 126 mm UG hubs seem to be easyier to find NOS or abandoned early in their service life than HG and it's pretty easy to swap in a new free hub body

I checked my stash, too. Almost all of my rear hubs are 32h. I've got an unused 36h RM50 shell with a Uniglide freehub stuck to it, and a used 36h Exage hub but the axle parts have been separated from it as well. (I'm sort of holding onto it in case I want to build another 36-spoke rear wheel for heavy loads...)
Here's what I'd do if I want to build up with new parts: Since "road" hubs in 36h seem to be rarer than "hybrid/MTB" hubs in 36h, I'd focus my search on the latter. "Exage" or "Acera" are good keywords. There's a seller in the UK who's pairing NOS 36h 7-speed HG rear hubs with nutted (?) front hubs: https://www.ebay.com/itm/402970734061 You would have to remove that 4mm axle spacer from the NDS and hacksaw 4mm off the axle, but once you've done that, it's ready to go! (If you're not comfortable cutting it, you could just buy a 137mm 10x1 QR axle and transfer all the hardware to it, too.)
If you're up for converting an UG hub to HG, here's the link to those HG freehub bodies from BikeWagon: https://www.ebay.com/p/26027203657 It's just a 10mm hex key to remove the old one and install the new one, but one caveat is that the old UG DS cone may not seal well against the dustcap on the HG freehub body, so you may want to go ahead and buy a Wheels Manufacturing CN-RO60 cone. https://wheelsmfg.com/hub-parts#rear_road (Spares are good to have, regardless!)

I have a 36 hole tri-color HG rear hub. There wasn't a skewer in it but I might be able to round one up. The spoke holes are a bit fugly but it spins as smooth as ever (I didn't open it up to inspect the internals but it is smooooth). Let me know if you want pics etc.

thanks for looking out! Decided to just stick with a freewheel hub for this build and keep things simple
