I don't really consider myself a cyclist, but that looks pretty interesting. Don't think I'll go see it in a theater, but maybe RedBox if they carry it.

The story of LeMond is in the background. The year before his first TdF victory he let Hinault win on team orders so Hinault could get win number 5. Then he won 2 TdF s....got shot and missed 2 seasons at the top of his game. Then he came back to win his 3rd. IMO in a perfect would he would have won 6 TdF s. Later in life he accused Armstrong of cheating, which he was as we now know. Trek was supporting Armstrong so they killed the LeMond line of bikes because he dared to speak the truth. And, this is why I have never owned a Trek and never will.

The story of his first win (he let Hinault win #5 with the understanding that the next year would be his turn only for Hinault to decide not to go along with that and have half his team working for Hinault instead of him) made for an interesting book.

And you remember the heated discussions we had around here during those days? There were a lot of Armstrong fanboys who said a lot of bad things about Lemond… I’m still kinda mad about that, to be honest. 😐

I find his win at the 1989 UCI Worlds are overshadowed by his Tour de France wins.

The story of Lemond “letting Hinault win” following team orders is so overblown, and really only resonated with Americans, and people who don’t understand the dynamics of professional cycling.
it was Lemond’s job to ride for Hinault; it was by no means unusual for him to sacrifice his own chances to do his job supporting the team leader.
If Lemond has any gripe, it’s Hinault breaching his promise to work for Lemond in 86, a pledge that Hinault did not need to make and shouldn’t have made in the first place.

The Lemond era was just before I took up road cycling but I can't wait to see this film. The nearest town showing it is 35 miles away but I think it will be worth it.

I started racing maybe 5 years before Lemond won his first big race.
I remember the interview after he won the Worlds in 1983 asking how he broke away and his answer was something like, "I put it in the 53 x 12 and went as hard as I could" but in reality, he destroyed them in the climb. Up out of the saddle and then sitting to snick the lever forward. Three times if I remember correctly and then they were gone.
