1970 Schwinn Paramount. How much is it worth?

Hello,

I have a 1970 Schwinn Paramount for sale. Lots of pictures in the link below:

https://billbattle.smugmug.com/Catego...3607&k=fk6C4Hr

I built it up to ride around town but haven't put 50 miles into yet. She Who Must Be Obeyed has noted an increase in the herd so I have decided to sell the Paramount.

There are threads about the bike:

Yes, it has a wild pile of components on it. It rides very nicely though those racing tires are unforgiving on rough pavement. I have an extra set of those tires still in their box. They came from a close-out sale at harriscyclery.

I'll put it up for sale on the forum marketplace board but it says they want prices listed and I don't have an idea where to set it.

Thanks!

Frame only, or complete as pictured? I would sell this frame only - I don't think the current build ads much value over it's frame value to most buyers. On eBay - I'd guess about $400ish for frame/fork - maybe 500? Complete - I'd guess about 500.

Shouldn't a 1970 Paramount have chrome on the fork tips?

I don't know I'm just asking.

Yes, and several inches of the chainstays and seat stays at the rear dropouts, the dropouts themselves, the fork crown, and the head lugs should also be chrome plated.

The repaint was pointed out in the earlier threads Bill linked to. Also, the fork isn't original. This bike would make a very nice rider, but IMHO wouldn't be of interest to a collector because it would cost too much to correctly restore it.

Scooper is right; it's rides very well but the fork and the paint are not original. That's why I asked about its worth.

And I agree with KonAaron Snake; the build is such a mish-mash.

I'll put it up on the Marketplace forum as a frame only item and sell the wheels/tires separately as well. If somebody sees a part in the Paramount they are interested in, just send me a PM.

Part it out. I'd say you could get around $400 for the frame.
