My plan to make racing more exciting.
No radios.
Some guys went up the road? You don't know how far ahead they are? You have two choices, man up and reel them in, or potentially finish the stage after they do.
No power meters, you are a professional athlete, you should know how hard your body is working.
No heart rate monitors, you are a professional athlete, you should know how hard your body is working.
Bike computers can only show distance travelled, nothing else, the course is clearly marked, there is no need for computer navigation

Perhaps you could suggest a C&V version. 5-speed straight block, steel frame, friction shifting, rim brakes (spongy old school single pivot), non-anodized aluminum rims and of course wool jerseys and deerskin chamois. The big question would you allow doping just like in the old days?

For the first couple episodes I kind of "meh" Then I saw a tip on Twitter to turn off the dubbing and watch in in the original French with subtitles. It's vastly better that way. Just finished the episode highlighting 2022 stage 12 where Neilson Powless broke away early but eventually gave way to what has become the emergence of Tom Pidcock. I find the backstories and team dynamics both insightful and entertaining. I continue to be amazed by how revered the sport is throughout Europe while often still categorized as a hobby in the U.S. Had to chuckle when Powless and his wife made their decision to move to France so he could train. You’d never see a pro NBA of NFL player subject themselves to such meager accommodations.
Definitely a worthwhile series to watch IMO.

I watched the first episode and half of the 2nd. Outstanding commentary, Excellent video footage, and the Action and Drama of the race expertly put together that even the non cycling experienced public would be sure to enjoy . So far so good .

Netflix also has a documentary series, 'The Least Expected Day,' following the trials and tribulations of Spain's Team Movistar. There should be another season coming soon. What we see on Netflix is pretty clearly edited down from a longer version shown in Europe, but it's plenty, as the focus is more on team dynamics than actual racing. Movistar's emphasis in recent years has evidently been creating interpersonal drama rather than winning bike races.

I have watched a bunch of Chris Horner's YouTube post-race analysis. Clips, not whole segments of th race. But a very well opinionated tactical analysis of every stage with the clips to prove his take on it. High energy commentary.

The production quality and extensive coverage make this a fine documentary. I'm a total retro grouch but the producers touch on the hard subjects of the extreme suffering, danger and abuse that can happen. Good storytelling in my opinion.
Wout Van Aert isn't the first rider unhappy with how he came across in a doc but I thought it had as much balance as most cycling docs considering how they tried to plumb the depths of all of the rider's experiences.
