Hello from Vancouver (Canada). How are things in Wichita Kansas?
While I tend to agree with 10 Wheels above, have you had a look through any of the LBS' in Wichita?

My First Road Bike was 25 years old. Paid $15.
Met a group and rode with them. Could get up to 28 MPH, But learned the reach to the handle bars was way to short for Me.
Found a New Bike my Size Rode it 39,000 miles.

I haven't, there's actually one down the road from where I work but I'm just concerned they might be out of my price range. With other hobbies I usually tend to find decent deals on FB Marketplace, but I think I'm over my head with how much complexity there is in choosing a bike that's a good fit for me. I should at least stop by and see what they recommend.

Weather is beautiful for riding right now, hoping it will stay that way and I can find something I enjoy before it gets too cold.

Definitely go visit your LBS (or a couple if possible) to see whats available (including bikes/parts, the service department, or other things like organized group shop rides) and figure if you're comfortable with the shops staff as you may end up back there for service/repairs even if you get a bike off FB marketplace.
