Flat mount to post mount adapter - opinions?

Hi - building up a bike that has flat mount brakes, but a post mount fork. I have seen adapters around that will allow a flat mount brake caliper to be mounted on a post mount fork. Has anyone used one of these? Any safety or reliability issues to be worried about?

On the contrary... is it possible to fit a post mount brake caliper on a flat mount frame?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've got two bikes that came stock is a post mount adapter for a flat mount frame and another for the flat mount fork. Both have worked just fine with no complaints. The only flat to post mount is made in canada but ships fairly quickly. reasonably painless to use.

OK thanks. I saw this. Flat mount frame to post mount caliper... might just do this.

the problem with a chain stay mounted flat mount caliper is that putting a post mount caliper on it might not work due to the seat stays. And also, bike manufacturers do a poor job of making the flat mounts flat, so you might have issues because the post mount adapter moves it out of range of adjustment.

Bikes: Co-Motion Cappuccino Tandem,'88 Bob Jackson Touring, Co-Motion Cascadia Touring, Open U.P., Ritchie Titanium Breakaway, Frances Cycles SmallHaul cargo bike. Those are the permanent ones; others wander in and out of the stable occasionally as well.

We have converted both ways without any problems, but you could have clearance problems on some bikes with some calipers as Unterhausen mentioned.
