I have Schwalbe Marathon plus tires and want to switch inner tubes to Presta valve ones. Which tubes would suit best?

Will Presta fit to the rims or do I need to buy an adaptor or something?

Make sure you buy the valve height you need. If you've got high profile rims, you'll need a taller valve.

Thanks Ron. I did check this and ordered ones with normal valve hight as I have stock rims.

The hole for the Schräder valve is bigger, too big for the Presta valve (rims for Presta valve have a valve hole with a smaller diameter than rims for Schräder valves).

You need an adapter ring to avoid any damage to the inner tube that could eventually cause a leakage around the valve.

The Schwalbe inner tubes with Presta valves (SV4 for the Brompton) are delivered with a ring that also play the role of the adapter.

Agree with Jipe, you need the adapter.

I used to use the Wheels Manufacturing adapters, they are metal. But, I had some corrosion problems. I also had a tube fail near the valve stem which I blamed on the adapter. I no longer use them.

Same here. Those Wheels Manufacturing, while looking better at the start, are a disaster since they fuse over time galvanically with the valve and rim. I had to destroy a perfectly good tube, because there was no gentle way of getting the vent+adapter out. I now use rubber adapters - you want a minor item to be the easiest to tackle.

I do not have a photo. Doing some internet searching, I find two options, one is to put it into the rim, not from the tire side, the other side. And the other option is to put it over the valve stem before you put the valve stem into the rim.

I put it on the valve stem, then insert the valve stem into the rim.

It had not occurred to me why the Schwalbe valve stem rings were shaped the way they are until I saw the post from TCS. But that makes sense and if you put the Mavic adapter on the valve stem first, then on most rims you could use that Schwalbe ring to hold the stem centered from the other side of the rim too.

You put the Sunlite rubber grommet from the inside of the rim. After all, the main goal is to protect the tube.

It's a video by Chris by Bike on You Tube. Very good Brompton channel. She knows her stuff.
In a response to one of the questions, she says to get plastic adapters for the schrader sized hole in the rim.
