Vitus, Campy Pawn Shop Find

Across the street while shopping, I spotted a bike taller than the usual mtn bikes & kids bikes, with classic looking seat stays. The pink seat made me wary, but worth taking a look.
Found this, listed at $350. Offered $250, which they took. (Should have offered less !!)
Looks to be in good shape at first glance, except for 1 broken toe clip.
I think everything is "C" Record except the rear wheel is a cheap replacement.
Frame's too big for me though.

Holy smokes Dude thats a nice find! First gen C-Record crank and RD will fetch about $250 on ebay. The seat post might be problematic if it is C-Record Aero as it looks to be jammed all the way in and clamp can get deformed. I'd like to see more pics!

Congratulations on this good find!

Saddle looks like it may be a Soffatti from Spain. Made by Arius. -

Broken alloy toe clips confirm those pedals as C Record.

The two sets I've owned tore themselves apart during my sloppy mounts. Moved to SL and never looked back.

Wow, great find. The gruppo is well worth the price of admission, and that frame looks fantastic.

The dig on those frames (especially in the larger sizes) is that they quite flexy , and therefore must be ridden carefully by all but the skinniest riders.

Meaning I won’t be making an offer on the frame.

I had an Arius Carrera which is pretty much the same thing as this. Loved it - had a decent amount of padding, so was more comfortable than my similarly-shaped 3ttt and Unicanitors. Unfortunately, a crack developed at one of the drilliumed holes began spreading. I had to retire it before the nose came off!

One of the comfier saddles I've ridden. Looked nice, too.

Ironically the pink saddle looks sweet, amazing deal. Looks like it might have cobalto brakes which were contemporary with C-record and often came with it instead of the deltas, they're not worth as much but they're great brakes. I think they were speced after the first gen deltas proved to be lacking.

Have never had one. Was on the mailing list for Zeus Cyclery Corporation of NYC. They sent a colour flyer with a photo of all the liveries for the Soffatti. Other hues I can recall were a bright blue, off-white and a yellow. IIRC there were also two or three others which I cannot now remember.

Arius had a long partnership with Arregui. Seems to have gone on for over a quarter century. AFAIK all of the Zeus marked plastic saddles were produced by the firm.

Not Cobalto brakes. Pretty much regular Record to my eye, with a slightly different center nut.

The headset has 1st generation defect of the tool flats on the adjustable cup too big for a standard headset tool. I remember when our team got some, I put them in the milling machine and cut the flats the right size.

I suppose I will have cut the stiching on the handlebar leather to remove the stem and bars...too bad. Looks like the bars were drilled for hidden cables inside the bars. New one for me.

Saddle is indeed a Soffatti Professionale.

I got the seatpost loose, and took it for a 200 yard ride to make sure the frame worked. Too bad I'm not 3" taller.
