"E-Bike Ready" components marketing BS
(I apologize in advance for the rant)
((I also have no animosity for e-bikes))
I recently purchased a new saddle for my MTB in my eternal search for a comfy seat.
A ribbon label in bright green in the saddle show that it was EBIKE READY.
So, what the hell makes a saddle ebike ready?
Is there a certification process by the Ebike Association of Earth setting standards?
Was this saddle tested for electrical resistance? 1.21 Jigawats?!
Is it extra durable for when I 'kick it up to 300watts'?!
Yeah, I know it's 100% USDA marketing bull poop, and completely unnecessary.
I have yet to see a news article stating that:
"Bob would have survived the test ride of ONLY he had an Ebike ready saddle..."
I apologize again for the rant.

Same marketing hype as "Gravel". Gravel bikes, I can understand, maybe gravel tires, but yes, there are gravel pedals, saddles, shoes, gloves, etc

Good rant, just bought a set of Michelin tires for my wife’s 96 Trek 750, dismayed to see they have e bike ready, proudly displayed in white, on the sidewall.
Personally thought the ole MultiTrack deserved better, problem solved with a black sharpie. Pretty lame marketing on their part.

I don't think road or gravel e-bikes really need a distinction though new e-bike riders to the scene or occasional riders prob prefer extra-padded saddles. On MTBs, I think it may be. more necessary on some components that are beefed up due to the extra weight and toque, though those motors are quite powerful...not on a just-riding-along basis but sudden accelerations uphill on Turbo mode can be quite hard on chains/hubs and sudden braking downhill or from high speeds much harder on forks/tires/discs/pads. E-bikes are more fascinating as we get older.

In any event, I’m not going to get my panties in a twist over it. I have not flatted on tour since 2017, despite riding a good amount of unpaved road, and that was an oddity.

The tires I use for touring say that. Conti Top Touring II. Wondering if it’s a European standard, possibly meaning they are adequate for extra demands e bikes put on tires?

I recently purchased a pair of Schwalbe Marathon GreenGuard for my 29er.
On the Schwalbe website, the Marathon are advertised as E-bike Ready for 50 KPH.
I need them to be good for 70 KPH non-motorized bombing down a mountain.
Hope I'm Okay that they are non-E-bike Ready as well.
