I have numbness in my left hand and right foot when I ride -happens on both my bikes. Done a lot of reading- haven't seen this anywhere.

Does anyone have thoughts on what could cause this and/or fix it?

Get your doctor to send you to a neurologist.

But you should investigate if you are set up correctly on your bike. However you've given us no clue to begin with.

You will doubtless get responses saying, see a doctor to determine what is happening and don’t rely on unqualified medical opinions here. So here is my unqualified non-medical opinion based on my own experience with numbness of the extremities: You are suffering from nerve impingement most likely in the spinal chord, or localized impingement in those extremities. You should get a referral to a neurologist to determine if its spinal or not and what you can do. Making adjustments to your seat height, handlebar reach, etc the way you shift your hands on the bars could help your hand, (I too impinge the nerve in my left hand if I am not aware of keeping myself from putting pressure on the wrist area, but the foot issue speaks more to something going on with your spine. No ready solutions to bike adjustment unless your seat is way too high or low. I would still seek medical consult. Best of luck

Keep in mind that the two might not be related. For example, the numb hand might be caused by your positioning on the bikes, while the foot could be a symptom of sciatica. I would approach each individually, rather than looking for a single culprit for both.

See a doctor is good advice. While waiting for the appointment check that your seat isn't too high.
I've been watching too many bikefit videos and they talk about when the seat is too high people shift their hips (sacrificing one leg) which can cause numbness in the feet. A high saddle can also cause hand numbness.

Numbness in your foot, assuming circulation is OK, is possibly caused by misalignment of one or more vertebrae. Back misalignment issues can cause a lot of weird stuff, in my experience. Besides a neurologist, you might try a chiropractor. They can vary considerably in effectiveness, knowledge, and humility, so asking around for an enthusiastic recommendation might help. I remember that one chiropractor of mine who called himself a kinesiologist was particularly good at diagnostics - i.e. determining exactly where adjustment was needed, without any x-rays, even. One technique he used for diagnostics was to hold my ankle and ask me to resist his pulling, while pressing on individual ribs. When one made my resistance stronger, that was the one to adjust. He was the only one I've had use that technique. Some will measure skin conductance (I think), with a device that tells them where you are tightening yourself up. One visit to a crappy chiropractor should not dissuade you, IMO - they really do vary a lot.

As others have mentioned, the causes for the hand numbness and the foot numbness may be completely different.

I had a friend from Boy scouts years ago who did a lot of cross country biking and had carpal tunnel like effects from the hand bars that were then popular. I'd never recommend surgery for that with all the good alternatives, and additionally it rarely works.

However here is my bias for the recommendation.

Almost 20 years ago, after having complained 3 or 4 years to my other doctors of neuropathy in my foot and other issues in my body seeming to be nerve related, that the neurologist that I was eventually sent to had me get a Schilling test and found out that I actually did have an issue. B12 deficiency or Pernicious Anemia which means that my body won't absorb B12 from food. I have to give myself IM injections of hydroxocobalamin or cyanocobalamin on a regular basis.

The other doctors pretty much thought it was all in my head. So that's why I suggest a specialist.
