I'm with you there. I have 12 myself plus 3 more that my wife and daughter ride. My son rides the same size frames, so that's kind of an excuse. All of them and the associated gear, etc except for the ladies bikes are stored at my place of business. It has a 2200sqft warehouse, so space is not a problem.

You lost me at saddle bag!
I just got an Edge 130, for the past several years I've been using a watch (and still am). There's a lot to be said for the relative merits and drawbacks of a watch as a bike computer, but it for sure gives you cleaner bars and stem. I have mine set to vibrate wherever there's a car behind me, can't miss it.

Initial battery life info on the Cygolite Hot Rod 90:
Both units worked for around 2 hours 45 minutes in Zoom setting out of the box. Tomorrow I'll see how long they take to charge and how long they last after the charge.

I use a watch also. It's a Polar and Polar has given up on cycling computers. Smart phone is in a jersey pocket. I don't really look at my data much except my cadence when I'm climbing. Bars are free of clutter. If I get a Varia, something will have to go on the bars to pair with it. I have to figure out what. Either the smart phone, a Lenzyne XL, or a Karoo 2. I want to stay out of the Garmin ecosystem if possible. Probably wait to see if Hammerhead brings another unit to the market. For some unknown reason, I've been toying with the idea lately of getting one of these and mounting it to my helmet as some type of HUD like display. I don't know what that will accomplish, but the idea won't go away.

I'm a big fan of my RTL510. Battery life on the new radar camera is way too short for my longer days, and I read that it can't operate while charging.

As for the radar, I found that I got out of the habit of flipping off drivers when they honked at me, because the radar removed the surprise element from the interaction.

I keep going back and forth on the Varia system. It definitely would give me more peace of mind, but I don't know if it will make me any safer. I'm also afraid that I might depend on it too much and my safe riding instincts might slip some. So, I bought a couple of new rear lights this go around along with the pedals mentioned up thread. The lights are sitting on my desk in strobe mode. I can see how long they will last and the recharge cycle will take.
My daughter passed her driving exam last week after a lengthy process. During the process, I had to switch her to one of our vehicles that doesn't have a backup camera. She was depending on it too much and not using proper safe driving procedures. Once we went to the other vehicle, she couldn't get out of the driveway without the camera. Many days of frustration ensued. Gradually, she got the hang of it.
That's what I worry about some with the radar.

At this price point, and given the capability of the hardware used, action cam use absolutely should be an option.
Also, when a cam is set to loop/over-write, any saved recording block is obviously taken out of the available memory. With a small card, it can get tight pretty quickly - a false positive here and there, a manual save or three because you saw something cool or need to report dangerous driver, etc, etc. I think that I have a 128gb card in my Cycliq, and it's not unusual to have 40+ gb locked.

I felt exactly the same way about sex, but it turns out I really don't miss it at all and my FTP really improved.

It would be really cool if this thing sent video to the head unit when the radar activates.
Without that, who cares? $400 for a bad action cam that only records problems?

As I stated in an earlier post, the "action" you are missing is basically hours of seeing the road behind you. It's pretty boring, really. However, in the event of a close pass, or worse yet, being struck by a driver, that video footage will prove invaluable.

Yes, I understood that. It doesn't send video to the head unit and it only records bad things.

For $450 you could get a rear rack and mount one of these babies on it! Heck, it's so small you could mount it on a helmet. If you had an incident, you could launch it in pursuit of the perp. Win win.

I just saw that the RTL515 radar & taillight is on sale for $150. If you don't want the evidence camera, this is a much better buy. 🙂
