Good find! Now oil/grease that QR clamp. Drip oil into the lever and skewer exits or disassemble, grease and assemble. QRs need the same lube and love as all the rest of the moving parts on a bike but are both very easy to forget and usually pretty quiet about their neglect. Grease the nut threads while you're at it.

I took the bike for a test today. Some mild sprinting, bumpy terrain and the problem is gone completely.
Fortunately, it was only minor "user error", and if not for the highly unusual source of the noise, I would have found out about the loose bolts on the chain ring and loose BB cup. I've been riding the bike more aggressively than I ever did and it could have ended in disaster with all the lose parts.
