I've ridden the abandoned turnpike several times.

Not going to lie the tunnels are scary.

Last time through we played headlight chicken.

All lights off, first one to turn back on, loses.

I visited the west end this past Tuesday morning. It had been raining all night and morning but stopped just before I got there. I parked near Breezewood and only rode to the Rays Hill tunnel and through then turned. Pretty sure I saw post-Armageddon zombies here and there, especially up in the gallery above the entrance. They may have been scared by my old wreck of a Trek 850 with drop bars. I was not accosted, but was whispered about. Creepy. Actually the interior of that tunnel was surprisingly dry and sound. Good construction.

I met these three walkers in the second tunnel last year. The crazy thing was that because I was wearing my sunglasses and their two lights were pointed at me, I didn’t see the third person in the middle until I was looking at my photos in front of a campfire that night. (Notice that the middle person doesn’t have a light.) Sent a chill down my spine.
