Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It was 57 F this morning. Been raining off and on all day. Temperature has been dropping slowly since mid-morning. Possible flash freeze tonight. Driving could be interesting tomorrow, not that I am planning any.

Some do. They also populate medical offices, and inhabit forums, questioning my quality MOTDs.

Yeah, I believe this is one of the big issues in psychology research - self-identification. But self-identification could itself be interesting to study.

This makes me think of my time in Ithaca. It snowed a lot less than I'd expected. I'd read about big accumulations in Rochester or Syracuse, and we'd get a couple inches. Cross country skiing was really popular, but it never seemed like there was enough snow to justify it.

Horseheads is a town in New York, just north of Elmira. When I took US 15 to get from home to Ithaca, I'd see the signs for "Elmira/Horseheads", before I got on NY13. Later, I took more of a back way, up US 220, which in retrospect, driving a 14 year old MGB that was mostly running on 3 cylinders ("Fill the oil, and check the gas!") was nuts. I relied far too much on the whims of Fate, Abingdon, and Joseph Lucas as a young man.

We've chartered a few, but none that size. It has been described as like driving a coffee table.

Guess I should get a ride in. Can't decide between MTB, road, or just a couple hours pedalling this around, as seen on today's burrito run
