Raleigh Super Record Mixte
I just got this from Facebook the other day, my wife was complaining that the Murray I built for her was not stopping.
New brake levers and shifter, love these R780 Ultegra stuff. It is now a 1x10 with a 42t chainring and an 11-36 cassette.
Shimano 105 hubs, Velocity Dyad rims, WTB Byway 700c x 40 tires.
Hey @T-Mar, When and where was this made?
Shimano 600 crank, 39t FSA chainring, 11-36 Shimano cassette, Shimano 10 speed chain.
An old Murray step thru my wife liked but complained the rear brake did not work.
This was the Murray I had built for her, notice the chrome steel rims.

I have tried to do the same thing, but all of the bikes seem to come in as framesets and they need everything! Brian's Raleigh came in yesterday but is still in hiding from the War Department. Smiles, MH
BTW: Brian you should have upgraded her bike long ago. Quite the change from the Murray.

The Murray was built just a month and a half ago.
This popped up on FB this week and it struck me as a good skeleton for a great ride.
I wish I had some previous pics with 27" wheels and ugly white wall tires, chrome rims and only a 5 speed freewheel.

Love the Raleigh. That is just how I like to build them. Normally I stick with 6 or 7 cogs in the rear since I can always find the bits necessary to make it work in the Bike Exchange parts bins. Have you had any issues with the chain hopping off the chainring? I often will grind the teeth of a larger ring to make a chain keeper for the front.

I am not worried about the chain jumping off.
It really rides nicely. I had those wheels on my 83 Pro-tour.

How stiff is the derailleur hanger across the cassette range, under strain while moving uphill?
(i know it's only a mixte not a racer)
The answer might be useful to me for upgrading a mixte and if converted, I will hope to ride it spritely.
edit: A better question, does it hold every cog nicely under load?

I rode it and it is a sweet ride. That 105GS does an excellent job of shifting through the gears and the SL-R780 is a great shifter.
It had a problem hitting the seat stay with the chain in the 11t cog, but a thin washer took care of that.
For me, a 245lb rider, it worked perfectly but for my wife at half that weight it is sweet.
