Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Many have pinch bolts onto a splined shaft, which is pressed into or part of the drive side crank.

I remembered my last bike with a square taper bb is my Tesch from 1992, which a friend has and I haven't seen in years.

I have a Campagnolo crank which has a two piece spindle that is splined in the center and uses a short bolt to hold them together.

It was a non issue because the fastest riders were still the same riders and e-bike guy was not confident pulling or mixing with fast riders, plus we could drop him on the flats because of the speed limiting, I think 21mph.
These newest e-riders are experienced racers on road bike style machines and it is as if they are suddenly in their prime again with extra watts to spare. I find myself in a group I have no business being with. I'm working and sweating and running out of water and they are just cruising along chatting. I stopped trying to ride with racers because it's no fun bleeding out of my eyes and red-lining my heartrate on every ride. If I'm going to work that hard at least I don't want to be dfl every time.

end/rant for now
Yeah. I can see how they'd just completely blow up a group ride. I can see someone less fit, maybe coming off an injury or forced rest, using it so they can manage a group ride that's outside their current fitness, but if a rider is just as fit as everyone else and they use an e-bike, it's like having a pro rider in a casual group ride - either they'll just be noodling along while everyone else is working hard, or they'll push so hard everyone's blown by the halfway point.

Some don't care if a little flash of bar shows up under the lever. That makes it easy.

My 1989 Schwinn Circuit with Sante kit has a 14mm crank bolt, but the 1982 Lotus with Dura Ace uses a 6mm Allen-headed bolt - it's got the 'self-extracting cranks'. Everything else except the Canyon is 8mm Allen-headed bolts.

Noted. I'm pretty sure I'm getting a second opinion before surgery. They don't even know whats wrong with me.

I think you're ready for exploratory surgery. No doubt they'll find something wrong once they start cutting.

Back in the 1970s, we were on the path to going metric. Then we got silly and stopped, so now you need at least two separate sets of wrenches, sockets, allen keys, etc.

I had a British motorcycle from the 60's. Make it 3 sets of wrenches.

Lame. I don't care what standard is used. Just pick one and everyone follow it.

I've never timed myself. Of course, it's futile at the shop because I get interrupted at least a couple of times during the wrap.

I have vivid memories of heading west on the NYS Thruway, traveling at "thruway speeds" through the Mohawk Valley, and closing fast on Type 2 bus. We were going up hill and I reckon he was not moving much faster than a Model T.

Totally.

Is it physically possible to have the polka dot side exposed all the way around the bar in a single pass, while wrapping in the proper direction to counteract hand twist?

Yes or no?
