Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For today's ride, I took Mrs. Peel on her first long Sunday ride. I kinda feel like until I've ridden a bike >50 miles in one go, I'm not really taking that bike seriously. I didn't take it easy, either. I got out of the saddle in the same places I always do, took the descents as fast as she'd go, and even bunnyhopped the expansion joints without flinching. When I got back, I half expected to hear that 'tick....tick....tick' you hear when you turn off your car after a fast and satisfying run.

Oh, yeah - and the temps were between 64 and 90. I should probably have drunk more, but Mrs. Peel only has braze-ons for 1 bottle cage.

Soddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be. There's a shadow hanging over me.

It has been cooler than usual this Spring, but I'm okay with that because the Winter was drier than usual, and the longer the heat holds off, the better.

Howdy.

forgive me for asking, but according to @Velo Vol, I'm an Old. What or who is A-A Rod? I know A-Rod the former ball player but don't know A- A-Rod.

Was planning to ride this morning, but stayed at a friends house until 1am. The better half was too tipsy to leave on time. Woke up late and very dehydrated so I spent the day going through photos of last night. Planning on riding tomorow.

Looks like buried electricity lines, too.
