Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I told him to trash the wheels, but he is determined to find out why this is happening.
What wheels? How heavy is he? I've never met anyone who has broken more spokes and trashed more wheels than I have.
In my experience once a wheel starts breaking spokes it's time to relace the wheel. The key is to find a wheel builder who knows what he is doing and takes the time to tension the spokes evenly.

This lawn isn't big enough to point her into the wind if the wind is out of the east or west. I reckon I could drag the trailer out to the driveway where it's wide open and I'd have access to all bearings.

Yeah, but like most of Peninsula residents, we don't have AC. We keep a big, cold ocean nearby. If it gets too hot, the rising air in the Central Valley draws in the cool air off the ocean. Takes about 3 days, usually. And the nights generally get down into the low 60s even when the highs get up to 100. The biggest problem is the house itself heats up day over day and doesn't cool completely overnight.

If it's the same as mine, it's gotta be epoxied - wouldn't be able to preload the headset otherwise, and they wouldn't be mad enough to use something like a star nut.

On rare hot days, can't you just go into the basement? Ours is always cool. Or do houses there not have basements??

I broke the front derailleur cable on my Seven something like 2 years ago. I had an old used cable I stuck on until I could order 2 new cables. The new cables are still sitting on my cabinet. I should probably put them on the bike.

And I was riding on the MVP this morning and a big rabbit ran across my path. I almost clipped it.

Just booked our first Christmas trip ever for the two of us and our two kids. Will be the first time in almost 30 years that we have not spent the Christmas holidays with other family members. Will be different!

My wrists were done before my legs were on the MTB this morning. Bit chunky at times around here.

Houses out here do not have basements. My understanding is that because we also don't get hard freezes, we don't need deep foundations.

Or something.

YouTube to the rescue! I didn't realize that there was a little access panel under the lever for just this scenario. Cool, cool. cool. Now I've gotta to get a new cable.

I HATE things like that, because if you didn't diagnose and fix it, you don't know that it won't happen again.

Should have bought spares, like I did a few months ago when somebody said they'd be hard to get!

New grease, new chain, new bottle cage, and new bottle cage clamp have all arrived!

Now I'm just waiting on the NDS crank arm that another forum member sold me, which should be here tomorrow, even though it arrived in San Pablo, right across the Bay, in plenty of time for UPS to get it to me today......

At least I can put a lot of it together tonight.

You can remove the thin covering on the side and extricate it that way. It’s Plan B but does work.

Based on my recent experience in the C&V bike world, 'not wearing out' does not equal 'remain useable'.

Clearly, the answer is to strip the whole groupo off and go Di2.
