Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I blew myself up trying to catch back up to a group after stopping some water, managed to catch them and hang on for a while but after my 4th pull I just fell off. If I hadn't been dropped, I probably would have finished at about a 19mph average.

There were two hills that were particularly brutal, one called Juniper Swamp Road and the other called Patterson Hill Road. Juniper swamp got to about twenty one percent on sand / gravel / dirt with an average of 13.8 for the steep part of the climb. It was really hard to keep traction while standing to climb, but I made it up when most others around got up and walked. Patterson Hill got to 45% YES 45! and I was climbing at about 1MPH, spun out in the dirt and had to bail off of the bike. Was able to get back on and finish the climb. On a dirt downhill following, there was a semi surprising left hand turn I hit going too fast, skidded out and ended up off the road but upright. Most fun was a long downhill dirt stretch in a group of people where I hit 48.

This ride was about 10x as hard as the century I did last month with 3100 feet of climbing. The rough dirt roads beat me up, my neck was sore, my stomach was killing me (I had a gas bubble stuck) and it was extremely hot. It was also incredibly fun and I can't wait until next year. I finished in the top third overall and 17th in the 41-49 group. Can't complain.
Super Kudos! I'm exhausted just reading that. I have to go lie down.

I have lately been drinking a full bottle on a 22 mile flat ride. After prehydrating. Not enough apparently.

Simmons never impressed me. He is the media's darling though, and maybe that's enough for him.

So we set an new record for consecutive 115°+ days, now to see if we can beat the total days above 115° record that we set just last year.

Hey indyfabz I just saw a patient and she said her friend was killed recently in a bike crash in the city. Maybe in Manayunk. Is this in the news? Sounds like it was just a couple days ago.

Several years ago I saw him at my local Whole Food with Kendall Jenner, who he was dating at the time. Stopped at the bar to chat with a couple of people I know. Jokingly said that I heard him ask an employee which aisle they keep the jumps shots in. Bar tender called me a not-so-nice name.

He's the Carson Wentz of Philadelphia basketball.

Only two recent ones I know if were at Broad & Lehigh (last Wednesday) and near the Art Museum (back in April). The latter person killed was a doctor at HUP.

Hmmm....IDK. She said her friend was a male in his 40's who rode into the back of a car and was killed. Sad story, whenever it was.

Correct. I don't think he is really going to be competitive against the top sprinters, but good to hear he is going to give it a try.

Nope. But at least the NOAA person figured out to use two spaces after periods.

That might be three spaces! I'm sure they got TONNES of hate mail, so they might've decided better safe than sorry.
