Which De Rosa is your Favorite?
I had a 1983 De Rosa Professional once. I loved it. It had beautiful pantographed super record and I did something very very stupid. I sold it. I love vintage frames and the aesthetics of vintage components but prefer my modern comforts. I told myself that it should go to someone who would enjoy it for what it was.
Years later I still lust for a De Rosa. I want to start hunting for my grail bike but I don't know which model to search for.
Which De Rosa is your favorite? Pics recommended. Here, I'll start with some bike porn.

I honesly don't get De Rosa's pricing as they make currently two steel frame & forks. The Neo Primato & Neo Classico the base price is over two thousand bucks with no chrome, and no internal cable routing.
I had a De Rosa in the early 90's it rode nice, but like I said at over 2K fork a plane jane frame & fork ill pass.

just to clarify, are you talking about what older DeRosa to go after, or what new DeRosa model to buy? I don't really know a lot about their current offerings. As far as the vintage stuff, you're probably aware that there really aren't models prior to the 90s. There are track models, road models and the occasional oddball like the aero de Rosas , but basically they're all the same bike. There's SL and SLX. I doubt most people could really tell the difference riding one to be honest.
Personally I'd probably go after an earlier pre-ic lug model, but those are hard to find and $$$. I really like their 90s models when they got into nivachrome...my favorite De Rosa is my EL OS primato.

I'd say there is a huge difference between a De Rosa and a Colnago, at least in the more 'vintagesque' models. I prefer the De Rosa.

Most De Rosa fans have a strong preference for flat fork crowns.

Primato for a rider's choice. Still the benchmark, but I happen to love SL and SLX framed De Rosas almost as much.
A Bixxis for when I won the lottery though.

Yes, the Primato in EL OS is quite wonderful, and yes to SL/SLX Professionals, though a bit different geometry, yes to a Bixxis, as well. You should just get in the queue now. I'm too old.

I would trade my '81 gazelle and '71 corky for a late 1970s De Rosa. In a heartbeat and I would go through great lengths and cost to put 1st gen Super Record parts on it. That would be my golden era grail I think.

UPDATE: A comment at the bottom of this article: https://italiancyclingjournal.blogspo...s-own.html?m=1 seems to suggest that the rights for the De Rosa name was aquired by Alfredo Gios? In general it seems that others in the company wanted to contract out to Japan but Doriano De Rosa was against it.
