Torpado from Randy
July last year randyjawa of this parish listed a Torpado frame & fork; I bit, and here are some pics as it is so far.
The first pic is from the listing, and it arrived (well packed) exactly as it was shown:
The other pics are after a good cleaning, an OA bath, paint removal, mask, paint, line, decal, clearcoat, and put some bits on - seatpost is a junker used as handle:

What a great job you did with that frame I sent you! I am really impressed.
I found two old Torpados last summer...
I really had no need or use for either bike as I had just finished building this other Torpado, purchased a year earlier...
I harvested Torpado #2 for the component group which included a really nice 700c wheel set that I am thinking of installing on my grey bike...
I am looking forward to what Thunder Bay will cough up this year. So far, this early seventies Bianchi is offering number one which I ordered decals and cloth bar tape for just the other day...
I also snagged this mint and 100% very little used Trek 1000 that I will offer locally in a month's time or so with the approach of Spring(I am so sick of cold and snow!)...
Sadly, or not, the purchase of the Bianchi means that I have a nice chrome lugged Carlton taken off of the build list. Once again, too many bikes for my limited storage area...
I want to add that I sell bikes on Bike Forums but only through the For Sale forum. I joined the for sale forums years ago, paid the small fee, and found it to be one of the best forums to belong to.

randyjawa I continue to be amazed at the variety of really cool vintage bikes that show up in TB. I rarely if ever see anything like that selection down here closer to Lake Ontario....

Rideable now, and nice; I like it.
So it's pretty much done and I have been around the block on it and like it a lot. Needs some tidying, I discovered the fork was bent a little, one side needed tweaking and the slots were for 5/16 not 10mm so there was that.
The place on the fork where the chome was poor is almost hidden by the depth of the paint colour, this is a much nicer deep blue than the Krylon stuff.
Michelin 27 x 1 1/4 World Tour tyres, Araya rims unused since new many decades ago, hubs are Miche as once sold by Bike Nashbar/Warehouse, mechs are Campagnolo 980 (thanks very much to Ex Pres for the front one), post is Campagnolo, shifters a melange of bits, brakes Universal 61 with Kool-Stop pads, bars and stem Cyclo Man, crank is a Solida and pedals SR SP12. The saddle and I are old friends.

I am impressed. Great job. Mine, the grey one I built last summer gets a set of Campy hubs (low flange) and alloy rims this coming summer. I also hope to install and get a Campagnolo Tourismo rear derailleur fitted to the bike with hopes of using a wider range freewheel. Getting too old to push racing gears up hills these days...
Also planning to install this nice old Torpado specific bell that an generous forum member sent my way during the winter.

Randy, I have that rear derailleur on a Stella that was given to me by a close friend and riding buddy from the seventies. It shifts great and looks beautiful on the bike. I just wish the bike was bigger so I could ride it more. Even the matchbox FD works well.
