Naturally I give away a spare hub and then immediately acquired 8 rims ( great planning on my part ). I am now on the hunt for some cheap(ish) hubs as I've gotten back into wheel building and don't want to go nuts on parts just yet. I'll probably wind up selling the wheels off for the cost of parts here locally or use them for bartering. I would love to trade some parts for hubs, as I've REALLY overspent my fun-money lately.

^I have a small collection of cheap hubs^
What are your particulars, besides "cheap":
Number of holes?
Flange size?
FW or cassette?
OLN for rear hubs: 120/126/130/135?
any brand preference?

Great questions, I should have said:
I mostly need 32h (looking for a couple 100 and a couple 130) but I also need a pair of 36 (100 &130) and another single of 36 (100, 130 or 135). I don't care about flange, and while I'd love them to be cassette, I'm good with whatever is available. Any brand is good too!

OK, will copy this info down and see what I have (if any) that fits the bill.

EDIT: yesterday's search results have cropped up 3 hubs, 2 front and one rear, that check some boxes on that list.
I will PM @RobertUI with details

merziac, did you ever find one of the old-style hub shiners that you were looking for? If not, this eBay source out of Canada might have what you're looking for:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/291773610871

Not particularly cheap w/shipping, and I don't know if it's what you're seeking or not. But I saw your comment yesterday and ran across the eBay listing while looking thru the vendor's listing earlier today.

I think if I was looking for hub shiners, I'd ask over on The CABE.

ISO shorter Cinelli Stem

Hi folks,
I have a 120mm Cinelli 1R stem with a 26mm clamp. I need a shorter one, 90-100mm with the same 26mm clamp. Prefer a 1R, but would accept an XA if the other is not available. The one i have has a few minor scratches, but is overall in very good condition. See pix.
Email me; vancy@att.net for questions or additional pix.
Thanks & regards,
Van

CLOSED ISO BikeRibbon Celeste (or maybe blue or white)

Edit: ordered two each of three colors from the manufacturer website for $72 total since the best celeste deal I found was $40 total for a single. May have a roll or two of white, blue, and/or celeste available in the future if anyone comes across this and is in need.

The 1989 and 1990 Bianchi Giro (I have a 1990) catalog indicates BikeRibbon handlebar tape so I thought I'd ask around to get that look. Available for costly shipping across the pond on eBay and from the manufacturer site - thought it was worth asking if anyone in CONUS has got some or knows a source? I know the new stuff is apparently not the same as the old stuff, but I gotta start somewhere, looks like they offer other varieties but what I am looking for they now call "Professional". Might be interested in the blue or white as well.

The XTR 950 rings are proprietary, 112mm BCD for the middle, and 68mm BCD for the small. That whole ring/spider can be swapped out though, they made four and five bolt spiders that took normal rings.

Yep. Didn’t know that until I looked at the EBay search I did. It is either super expensive or a non fit.

@rustystrings61
How did the crank get like that??

I have no idea what the previous owner did to it. We've commented on how much stem and bars are showing - the previous owner was allegedly several inches taller and perhaps 100 pounds heavier than I am. Maybe he took the front wheel off and skidded along on the chainring? It IS freaky.

I wonder if the direct-mount used on this would fit other direct mount chainrings. Probably not - we ARE talking Shimano, after all. So I'll probably replace the crank and the bottom bracket both before it's all said and done - but as cheaply as possible!

You could file that down and make a pretty nice bash guard!

The bike is a 1992 Trek 820 I plan on building as a single-speed beater; I have a 34T 110 bcd ring I was thinking of using, and even a 170mm Sugino drive crank, but I’ll need a 170 left crank and either a BB or the lock ring for the cartridge BB I pulled from something a long time ago; that or a whole new setup.

As it currently sits after adding brakes and replacing the fugly bars and stem it came with.

That was actually my plan. When it came to me, about 1/4 of the teeth were gone, so I broke off the remaining ones thinking I could find a middle ring and file down the outer into a bash guard - didn’t realize this was such a freak show oddball crankset!

I have an orphan generic-looking Shimano 170mm NDS arm if you want to achieve full beater status with mismatched crank arms. Let me know.

This came off of a broken frame that got scrapped. I think it has shifters, brakes, sealed BB, and pretty much everything but the wheels and tires. Yours if you want it. lemme know, Smiles, MH

I think I might have gotten the name wrong. Alivio drive train, etc.

Most of a complete bag of parts to build a beater

The splines Shimano used for the spider/ring of that era were similar between XTR, XT and LX. One other brand I know of used the standard, that being AC/Adventure components. I suspect you can mix match the XTR, XT and LX spiders and rings, but not 100% sure.

I have an LX crank with the integrated spider/ring removed, replaced with a 5 bolt 94bcd spider and proper chainrings. I think the spider is either XT or XTR. Would not be surprised if the XTR was just slightly different and only XT/LX were cross compatible.

Here is one with an aftermarket spider I don't recognize: https://www.ebay.com/itm/22499168871...MAAOSwl8dihG40
