What's difficult about that? Chain stay length is moot with that method.
I don't think the extra length you had would hurt as long as the chain didn't have a "bad" sag on small:small. That's a combination you shouldn't be using anyway since you are severely cross chaining.
I normally don't try to judge tooth wear on chain rings from pictures, but I think yours do look pretty stubby.
Go to an LBS and look at a few other NEW cranks w/ 11 speed to get a comparison to yours.

Only 2 secs after seeing the closeup shows me it is is FAR past best before date. Like 10,000 miles.

GamblerGORD53 Really? I am not seeing the shark toothiness that I expect to see when a chain ring needs replacing. I say/ask this not as a smart-butt comment. More because I want learn how to properly gague when a chain ring needs replacing...I say as I eye up my own chain ring. Thank you.
