Knobs splitting off tire?
Hello, this is just a defective tire right? The rubber wasn't made correctly or something? Can anyone shed anymore light on this? Is it possible this is something I've done?
Innova Dirt Controller 2024 MTB Wire Tire - Black / 26" - 2.35" × 1
Tires are 5 months old exactly. Not many miles. Maybe 200-300. Occasionally left outside but only when weather is nice. I cross a stream a couple times when I do ride.
Thanks

Had this problem with some 38mm Kenda gum wall tires. It only happened in the winter when the temp was about 50° F. Here in Central Texas that's cold. On the other side these, the Kenda's, held up well in 105°F temps on black tarmac. Go Figure???

Given the sidewall cracks the first image shows I would speculate the tire's rubber has become brittle, or "dry rotted". The stress of flexing is focused on the knob's bases so no wonder a crack shows there too. The side wall cracking can be induced sooner if the tire was ridden w/ too little air too.
UV exposure will hasten this condition too. Andy

We sold some of these because it was literally the only 26" tire you could get for months. Didn't see these problems with any yet, fingers crossed I guess.
