You two are never going to get tired of this are you? Maybe you should start a blog together in the bloggers forum.

I'd like to finally see a few trolls handed some temporary stays from the forum as punishment. If a topic gets locked, it's likely punishment should be in store.

Everyone here posted of their own free will (some MUCH more than others ) so they must be getting some value from it. And there seems to be little to no rule breaking going on...

I figure just ignore a thread if you don't like it. Or, have a little fun with it. (even if others are taking it way too seriously)

Wow, a discussion forum that can't tolerate discussion. Anyone is free to review my posts to see if I have been "trollish". Then look at a few of those complaining, including a moderator, and see.the quality of their posts. Who's discussing the topic and Who's throwing in sarcasm and insult.

Just because one disagrees with a position, that doesn't mean it's trolling.

Exactly. The forum is full of threads to participate in. Go fill yer boots. Why try so hard to shut down a conversation some other people are having.

And for the record, I'm not taking it too seriously in the sense of getting butt hurt over it. I find the question, not the OPs, but a more reasonably stated version of it, interesting. We are discussing it. What's wrong with that.

Anyone is free to quote an example where I have been uncivil. The only objection seems to be: "I disagree with your premise and can't tolerate your being allowed to voice it in a civil way."

Hardly grounds for a lock.

??? Who is saying this (whatever it means)?

Maybe, you aren't really familiar with bicycling.

The difference in weight between good road bike and a "top tier" bike doesn't really matter. The good road bike isn't really "heavier" in any meaningful way.
If you disagree state why and we can debate. Calling a position ridiculous as a way to discredit it is an ad hom8nen attack.

My experience with cycling spans 50 years and is in several disciplines. As well as recreationally, and commuting, I have ridden for work as both a courier and a rehab assistant facilitating a therapeutic bicycle program. As well as that, my profession is to deliver exercise programs to others.

I agree that the weight difference is not that great. Meaningful in competition but not for general exercise. That's been one of my points all along.

We've already dealt with that exact thing.

I have no personal stake in the discussion. I don't sell bicycles. I don't care why people do what they do or buy what they buy. I'm even ok if, at the end of the day, you disagree with my points.

I participate in BF discussions for fun. Why are you here? Did you have something to say about the topic or just about the participants?

If one doesn't participate out of interest (aka fun?), then what does incentivize one to participate? altruism?

There's a difference between participating in a discussion or a debate because it's interesting, and arguing just for the sake of arguing.

This thread has boiled down to bickering between two members and there hasn’t been constructive posts by others for a while. Time to close
