Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A few years ago I had a kidney stone bad enough I called the doctor, who prescribed me Norco. I took it, and it seemed to help. In fact, I felt pretty good that day. Next day, I felt awful, like I'd stayed up all night drinking. So I stopped taking it.

Three days later I finally pooped.

Which Evan Williams? Heaven Hill generally makes good stuff.

So, on my Kentucky trip I was having issues. Digestive type, or gas pain etc. So I thought. When I got home I was moving all my belongings back home from storage. It rained Tuesday so no ride. Thursday I thought I pulled something because I moved the couch and dressers home by myself. On the ride that night. I couldn't really apply any hard pressure to the pedals, no sprint at all and the after ride beer wast holding my interest. Friday I had 0 appetite, kinda nauseated all day, went to watch grand son #1 play baseball. Things were becoming uncomfortable. Went to bed @ 10pm, I was up at 1am with excruciating pain in my left front abdomen. By 3am I decided to drive myself to the hospital before I blacked out. The pain was coming in waves followed by the urge to vomit. They tried to send me home Saturday. But the pain returned before they could get me out the door. So now I get to add a urologist to my stable of doctors.

Fortunately mine have never been so bad as to necessitate having one of those. They've all been of the 'Have some painkillers, drink a lot of water, and buy yourself a tea strainer" variety.

A friend of mine told me about a friend of his, for whom he had poured a nice, 12 year old single malt. The guy takes a sip. Asks if he can get some coke to add to it. My friend stopped wasting top shelf booze on him.

TMI Alert

I had my surgery on Friday, and I didn't pooped again until Monday or Tuesday. No real discomfort. Just didn't have the urge.

Dude, this sucks. I hope I never have to go through that. my 82 year old mother had kidney stones recently and she said it was worse than childbirth. She feels great now so you've got that to look forward to.

Been hospitalized and put on morphine about 4 times because of those little *****. Now avoid dehydration more than COVID.

They gave me morphine @ first. It lasted about 10 minutes. All I could do is hold my side and pace around the room between bouts of nausea. Thay had another drug they gave me, started with a T that worked great. I felt nothing for a couple hours on that but could only be given every 6 hours.
